Why we do what we do.

When I first started doing hair I was often asked why I wanted to be a hairstylist. And I had your generic answer of well I get to be creative and I can make my own hours! And while part of that is still true , there are so many more reasons why I do what I do. It wasn't until this past week that I was reminded of this, I had a new client who asked for unicorn hair. and for those who don't know unicorn hair is...just look it up! Anyways through out the service which was about 5 hours I got to know this lady and her story and just spend time with her , and when the time came for her to see her perfectly curled hair and vividly beautiful unicorn hair , I spun her around and when she saw her new do she started to cry. And first instinct as a stylist is when I see tears that's not a good thing. But this was so the opposite, she looked at her hair and thanked me , she said that she feels pretty again and that she never treats herself and this was so worth it. She loved her hair and loved herself and after we hugged like a million times I remembered right then and there why I am hairstylist. Not because I can be creative or I can make my own hours but for the reaction my client had , and how she felt about herself when she left the salon. I work to make people feel this way about themselves to love how they look. This is why I do what I do , this is why in 5 years I still love going to work everyday! So I encourage other stylist or anyone really to leave a comment about why you do what you do! This was the finished product!
