Do you have well or city water? Do you use a color-protectant shampoo? Do you use cool or hot water? These are all questions your stylist should ask and discuss with you before you start any color. Well water can have a build-up of minerals in your water. This can lead to your hair color not lasting as long as you had planned or your stylist said it would. Also, color-protectant shampoo will help your color last longer and help maintain the health of your hair. Super-hot water can open the hair strand, which can cause your color to escape. Using cool or lukewarm water will allow the cuticle to stay closed allowing your color to last longer. On the days, you do not shampoo, try using a dry shampoo, it will soak up all the oils in your hair. After you have had your hair colored, try not to wash it for at least 3 days. This will allow your color to lock to your hair strands allowing your color to last longer. These are just a few tips to maintain your color and keeping it look as great as it does when you leave the salon!
