Traditional Highlighting vs. Balayage

Balayage…crazy word, right? But what a wonderful thing it is! Ladies, there is nothing wrong with showing your natural color or a little bit of roots. Balayage is highlighting the hair but creating a more natural blonde than traditional highlights. Also the upkeep with balayage is so much easier than traditional highlights. When it grows out, you have no lines showing you need your hair done. Again, showing roots is actually a thing now so embrace them! With balayage, it’s common to show the natural color of your hair at the root which is called a shadow root. If you aren’t about embracing the natural color, get a couple small highlights around the face to break up shadow root and brighten the hairline ! We call these baby lights. Basically, as a stylist, I always want you to look your best and if you’re trying to decide what to do with your hair but also don’t want anything wild and unnatural, go with balayage.
